Iphone Film Festival

I think there were a few decent submissions, sadly too many seemed 'experimental'. I understand there is a market or at least in interest in experimental films but sometimes I believe they are the result of a lack of creative thought by the creator. Anyhow you guys should look at some of the submissions and tell me what you think. I would like to do something when the next festival swings around. Let me know.

  1. I hate experimental. It's what drove me out of film school at UT. Yes it has a place as does every other kind of filmmaking. But I've never found heart and excitement in it; and yes it feels there is lack of creativity because I think it was the most uncreative period of my life. Which is why I would turn to music as a side thing. I had no restrictions and I let my soul flow through everything I played. I love films that get me pumped and remind me what makes me happy about us always getting together shooting something.

  2. Anyways I want to give this iPhone fest a shot. No doubt. Some of the great videos I've seen in particular is about motorbikes or dirtbikes hell I don't know. Point is; for an iPhone I was impressed the visual clarity of the device filming these bikes in action.

  4. I just got around to checking out the site. So aside from the short list of rules, you can film anything you want? There are no topics or anything?

If that's the case, then I say we try brainstorming something to shoot before October. We could even take one of preexisting ideas and just film it using an iPhone...

I'm willing to offer up any my short story that wrote back in April. I'm not super familiar with the video capabilities of the iPhone; do we need to take into consideration thing like audio quality (there's nothing in the rules about using an external audio recorder is there?) or low light performance. From the looks of it, the majority of submissions are pretty heavily edited in post...

Any immediate ideas? I'll try posting my short stories for the group...
